Michael Steimel
Michael Steimel is a native of rural Jesup, Iowa, the third of four children of Richard and Lenora Steimel. He is a product of Catholic education, beginning in Gilbertville parochial schools and graduating from Don Bosco High School in 1987. He furthered his education with a BA from Loras College in Dubuque in 1991, and a MA in Pastoral Liturgy and Music from the Summer Program of Church Music in Rensselaer, IN., in 2001.
Michael is a multitalented musician having directed church choirs since the age of fourteen and whose primary instruments are voice, guitar, piano and organ. Michael has ministered as music director and liturgist at parishes in Cedar Rapids, West Des Moines, Kansas City and previously with the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato, MN.
His inspiration as a youth to become a church musician came from his mother, his paternal grandmother who was a life-long church organist/choir director and the SSND community who taught him from grades 1-12.
