What is Confirmation?
Confirmation completes what was begun in Baptism by strengthening the gifts of the Holy Spirit. When we are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit we are strengthened in our bond with Christ and the Church. We are called more deeply into the mission of the Church - to announce the Good News and make disciples.
At our Confirmation we receive the fullness of the gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, knowledge, fortitude, piety, counsel, and fear of the Lord. Confirmation deepens these gifts first received at Baptism. In these Sacrament we participate in the great outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost!
How to Receive Confirmation
High School Confirmation
Confirmation is a two year process for Anchor Ames Catholic Youth Ministry High School Candidates, where we focus on knowing, loving and following the Lord, and finding our call to serve with our whole heart. Confirmation preparation nurtures a personal and communal relationship with Christ and the Church in our candidates, impressing upon our teen parishioners the call to lead & change the world.
We start in the Confirmation Preparation process typically in 9th grade as Year 1 and continue into their 10th grade as Year 2. For more information visit the Anchor Confirmation page or contact our Youth Minister, Kayla Stinga at [email protected] or 515-232-3514.
For Adults Seeking Confirmation
For adults we will place you in our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. To get started with this process please contact Brenda Neppel at [email protected] or 515-292-3810.
