Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God
We are capable of doing great things, but if we do anything without love coursing through our actions, it is worthless. If we even do the smallest things with great love flowing through us, it is worth everything. Do we believe this?
Mary, the Mother of God shows us the power we are capable of when we are conduits of Christ. Mary did not have much going for her. Actually, the only thing she actually did was be filled with Christ and give birth to the savior of the world. Turns out that whole things was a big deal. But is something capable of as well. As Mary was a conduit of the power of Christ in her womb, we can be conduits of the power of Christ in our hearts.
Mother Teresa uses an analogy to demonstrate what this is like. She says that when you open an electrical box you see all kinds of wires. Some big and some small. Some are old and worn while others are new and shiny. Some are long connecting from a distance and some are short. Until a current pass through them, they are worthless. The wires are you and me. The current is God. We have the power to let the current of God flow through us and bring light to the world. This is exactly what Mary did through her womb. This is what we can do through our hearts.
We are capable of doing many things, but if we do them without love coursing us, then it is worthless. If we even do the smallest thing with love flowing through us, we can bring light to the world. Do you believe this? Mary believed this. Let it be done.
