What Stephen Ministers Do
With a minimum of a two-year commitment, Stephen Ministers complete 50 hours of training and once active in the ministry, they attend ongoing continuing education and peer supervision.
●They meet one-hour per week to listen, encourage, and accept a person receiving care, while maintaining complete confidentiality.
●They provide support - prayer, Scripture, referrals - in appropriate ways to meet the needs of the care receiver.
And Do NOT Do
●They are not counselors or therapists; nor do they give advice or tell people how to solve their problems.
●They do not run errands or provide transportation.
