"Go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
Through Baptism we become members of the Body of Christ. Baptized -- bathed in water in the name of the Trinity, anointed with the oil of Chrism, clothed in white and given the light of Christ the newly baptized is welcomed into the Christian Community and called to discipleship. The Christian community assists the parents and godparents in training the child in the practice of the faith as a child of God.
Baptism of Children ages 0-6: One parent must be a registered member of St. Thomas, an active Catholic and attend a preparation session. Preparation sessions are offered every two months. Parents are encouraged to have their children baptized at one of the celebrations during Mass- Baptism of Jesus (2nd Sun in Jan.), Easter, Ascension. A meal for the family and friends of the newly baptized is served after the Mass.

Children 7 years of age and older who want baptism enter into the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults adapted for children. Preparation sessions are offered for the children and their parents and godparents. When prepared the children celebrate Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.
