Babysitting for STA functions

Young and older adults volunteer to provide child care for STA parents in the Angels Room. This enables parents to be active in other aspects of parish life, such as sacramental preparation, church council, day and evening MOMS, RCIA, committees, and Baptism preparation.

Babysitters need to:

  • Attend a "Virtus" training. (Watch the Bulletin for training times.)
  • Complete the "Policy for the Protection of Minors and Code of Ethical Standards." (This is required by the Archdiocese of Dubuque for all who work with minors. Pick up the form at the office.)
  • Have experience in caring for children.
  • Let S. Lorraine know your available times.

Basement Sale

The sale is held annually in September. Volunteer help is needed to set up for the sale, to work the day of the sale, and to clean up after the sale. Watch the Bulletin for dates and times to volunteer or to drop off your donation of sale items.

Meals

"When I was hungry, you fed me . . . a stranger and you visited me . . . ." Matt. 24

STA parishioners are needed to prepare and deliver:

  • A meal to a family or person in crisis (2-3 times a year).
  • A salad or dessert to STA for a funeral meal (varies).
  • A meal for the priests (2-3 times a year).
  • A meal to new parents (varies).

Do you have a new baby at home? Call 515-292-3810. The New Parent Meal Cooks will prepare and deliver 2-3 meals to your home. We at STA are happy to help you at this special time in your family life.

"Will you let me be your servant, let me be like Christ to you . . . . "

Volunteers are needed to:

  • Help serve funeral meals.
  • Coordinate or help serve wedding receptions.
  • Help with Food at First.
  • Help with Friday meals at Family Emergency Center (S. Kellogg).

Welcome new parisioners

"All are Welcome, All are Welcome . . . . "

Yes, everyone who comes to St. Thomas is WELCOME, and we want all who come here to be a part of our St. Thomas Aquinas Parish community. A group of parishioners called the Welcoming Committee tries to make personal contact with each newly registered parishioner.

Interested in being part of any of the above?

Please contact the parish office, 515-292-3810 or lorraine@STAparish.net.
