St. Thomas Aquinas Church and Catholic Student Center was established 62 years ago to serve the spiritual needs of Catholic students at Iowa State University and families in the community. Today, St. Thomas Aquinas serves more than 800 families and 5,000 Iowa State University students. Alumni, parents, parishioners, and friends provide the financial and spiritual support that enables us to continue and strengthen our ministry.
Donors can give to the following funds or where the need is the greatest. This may be a need not listed below, but that the donor and pastor identify as important.
Msgr. Supple Endowment Fund
Sustains ongoing campus ministry programs and supports special projects and partial campus minister salaries. This endowment brings nationally known Catholic speakers to campus, sponsors several retreats to encourage daily scripture reading and prayer, and provides Lenten prayer booklets for students.
Goal: $2 million
Fr. Ev Hemann Endowment Fund
The parish established this endowment to honor Fr. Ev Hemann's 10 years of service as pastor to the St. Thomas community.
It will help us retain and improve our staff's ministry potential. This endowment will support staff continuing education,
development, and sabbaticals, which indirectly benefits present and future Catholic students.
Goal: $250,000
Peer Ministry Endowment Fund
This new fund will support peer ministers for Catholic students at Iowa State University. It will enhance the overall effectiveness of student ministry at St. Thomas Aquinas through liturgy, outreach, community life, and service. It will provide our peer ministers with housing, food, laundry facilities, and utilities.
Goal: $350,000
